Dickson Expresses Regret at the Collapse of High Street Icon Thomas Cook

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed his disappointment that iconic High Street travel agency, Thomas Cook has ceased trading.

Mr Dickson commented: “It feels like Thomas Cook has always had a presence in towns across Northern Ireland, and it is sad to see this 178-year-old company go. My thoughts are with the employees, and the customers of the company, at this concerning time.

“The UK Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have said they are dealing with travellers who are still abroad or about to travel with Thomas Cook.

“Understandably, customers will be distressed, and I expect that the CAA and ATOL to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.”

The CAA has set up a website: www.thomascook.caa.co.uk to provide advice, and can be contacted on a 24-hour helpline: 0300 303 2800 from the UK, and +44 1753 330 330 from overseas.
