Dickson Hits Out at Those Behind Assault

A masked gang forced their way into a house in Whinfield Walk in Carrickfergus around 10pm on Sunday. They then assaulted a 19-year-old male with bats and a hammer. The victim sustained a number of serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital. "This was an appalling incident and must have been terrifying for the young man attacked," said Mr Dickson. "My thoughts are with him, especially as this assault appears to have been particularly brutal and vicious. I hope he makes a full recovery. "There is no place in society for those who wish to take the law into their own hands and they must be brought to justice. I urge anyone with information to report it to police immediately."
