Dickson Backs Local Bombardier Workers
East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed his support for the local workers at Bombardier, by urging everyone to sign the Unite Union Petition to defend jobs and skills at the Belfast plant.
Mr Dickson met with Unite Union representative Darren Moore at his constituency office on Friday 27th October, to discuss the current concerns of workers at Bombardier and lend support to the campaign to defend the site from cuts.
Mr Dickson commented: “The past few months have been a bit of a rollercoaster for Bombardier, and I sincerely hope that now some stability can be brought for those understandably concerned for their jobs. It is vital that we keep this innovative, highly-skilled industry in Northern Ireland, and protect the jobs and skills that it brings and fosters.
“To this end, Northern Ireland needs an Executive that can work together, and a serious Manufacturing Strategy to encourage foreign investment in the sector, and grow the base we already have. This sector is a fantastic asset and we must not be complacent regarding the future.”
In the meantime I urge everyone to sign the Unite Petition to protect the jobs and skills at Bombardier in Belfast.
