Council Update on Service Provision in Mid & East Antrim
The Strikes across MEA can best be described as fluid. At present, the situation regarding services in Mid and East Antrim is:
Household waste collections are taking place in Larne and Ballymena, however, Carrickfergus collections will be disrupted. Unfortunately this is likely to be the case all week. These collections are taking place as normal in Ballymena. Please refer to the Disruption to Bin Collection page for updates.
Commercial waste is being lifted across all three areas and Bryson are operating their service.
Any resident who is willing and able to take excess household waste to their local recycling centre for processing is encouraged to do so. Those who require assisted lifts or the disposal of medical waste are asked to contact the Council.
The pool in Larne is closed and school swimming sessions only are suspended in Ballymena. There is currently no impact in Carrickfergus.
All public toilets are currently open as normal except for the harbour toilets in Carrickfergus.
In terms of facilities maintenance support, this is unaffected in Larne and Ballymena, however, in Carrickfergus only emergency callouts will be responded to at this time.
There has been minimal impact on community centres, with the exception, possibly, of Sunnylands. Any bookings affected will be contacted directly.
