Whiteabbey barriers

Delighted to say that following a meeting with the Minister for Infrastructure, the Department is considering the removal of some of the unsightly wire mesh on the new safety barriers at Whiteabbey.
This is a victory for common sense. The wire mesh that has been added to the already unsightly barrier along the seafront at Whiteabbey village has been the source of many a complaint to my office and I welcome the commitment to consider the removal of the mesh covering the top two rails.
I wish to thank the Minister for her timely response to this issue whilst accepting that not all of those complaining about the barriers will be satisfied. I will continue to press for a speedy timeline for the removal of the wire mesh, but that said, I am delighted that in this instance common sense has prevailed.
