The Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) is a fund that will meet the cost of addressing life safety fire risks associated with the removal of dangerous external wall cladding systems on qualifying residential buildings over 11 metres in height.

The key objective of the fund is to reduce or address the fire risks associated with exterior wall cladding that is potentially unsafe. The CSS will support applications for buildings where the applicant is unable to afford to carry out the work themselves or feel that it is not their responsibility to do so.

An application for the CSS can be submitted by the person or organisation legally responsible for the building’s external repairs or their representative. In Northern Ireland, the CSS is administered by Homes England on behalf of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).

Homes England is a non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and is the housing and regeneration agency for England. It is important that all life safety fire risks in residential buildings within Northern Ireland receive remedial action to ensure the safety of residents. You can access the guidance on the fund at Cladding Safety Scheme | Department for Communities (communities-ni.gov.uk) and if you think your building is eligible, make an application via this link.
