Dickson Supports Cancer Research and Prevention on World Cancer Day 2019

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed his support for campaigners, patients and survivors on World Cancer Day.

Mr Dickson said: “Cancer is the biggest killer in Northern Ireland, and practically everyone has been touched by the illness in some way or another. Although cancer rates have been increasing, survival rates have also more than doubled since the 1970s.

“Such progress is thanks to the work of campaigners who have raised money and pushed for changes in policy to fight and prevent cancer. We can always do more, for example a new comprehensive Cancer Strategy to reinvigorate Northern Ireland's approach to prevention, detection and treatment.

"This is yet another pressing issue that again underlines the need for the Northern Ireland Assembly to get back to work, and focus on the real concerns of people, not the tired, petty squabbling we continue to see.”
