Dickson Expresses Concern and Support for Local Bombardier Workers

East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed his concern at the potential impact on Bombardier Aerospace, of a current United States competition complaint made by Boeing.

Bombardier is accused by the US giant Boeing, of ‘price-dumping’ in the US and selling its aircraft below costs, with the support of Canadian government funding. If the US Trade Commission finds in favour of Boeing, it could put the viability of the Belfast manufacturing site in jeopardy.

Mr Dickson commented: “I want to express my support for the 4,500 workers who are currently employed at the site, and are now worried about what the future may bring. Northern Ireland has a proud history of aircraft production, and I sincerely hope that this can continue for many more years.

Ultimately, we need leadership at times like these, so instead of political posturing, the DUP and Sinn Fein need to be getting together to form a government, and work to safeguard these jobs and the industry as a whole.
